Let's get the vulgarities out of the way: I would give my left nut for that Margiela tulle bomber. (An easy price to pay, I suppose, when you don't have a left…or right…nut.) Margiela continues to do what Margiela does best: making the extraordinary out of the ordinary. These tulle overlay pieces from the Pre-Fall 2014 collection are somehow both form-focused and distorting. Taking something dainty like tulle from the prima ballerinas and the princess brides, dyeing it black, and using it to create a protective shrink wrap. The pieces are already couture relics being preserved for future discovery and appreciation. Things you would find in Ms. Havisham's closet had she been a punk.
And my love affair for all things Acne Studios continues. If you can't rely on knitwear genius to come out of Stockholm, what can you rely on? The form of the Galactic sweaters is perfect - the oversized body and high neck paired with the overlong sleeves, hanging like the untied straps of a straightjacket. A design that hints at a crazy that extends just slightly beyond the wearer.
Apparently this Fall I will be going for crazy shut-in chic.
