It's no secret that I love black, particularly black bottoms. Some women collect breton stripe shirts, I collect black bottoms. Punk or formal, intellectual or frivolous, sexy or demure, directional or classic. Black bottoms are ready-made cool--perfectly modern and effortless. Black is fundamental to fashion, a building block from which all chicness flows. Think Emmanuelle Alt in her perfectly cut skinnies. Black forces the eye to focus on proportion, shape and design.
As I get older, I'm thinking more and more about the importance of a curated closet, a thoughtfulness that manifests as ease in day-to-day dressing. Black bottoms are essential to that. Not to mention they hide many sins--like my tendency to spill food on myself.
I am deeply rooted in blackness.
